What's Up Wednesday
What we're eating
What I'm reminiscing about
W's first Halloween when he was Remy from Ratatouille. I love finding easy costumes that can be conveyed with pajamas and an accessory!
What I'm loving
That our weather is finally starting to feel autumnal. The personality W continues to explode with. How full October was. The delight in knowing my students and connecting with them in engaging ways in our library.
What we've been up to
October was so full. I had a two day conference for my state professional association. I had a one day county conference for all media specialists. I ran my first book fair. I ran a literary pumpkin patch competition. My in-laws came to visit. We've been working on transitioning W out of the crib. It has been so full of so many fun and good things, but I'm exhausted!
What I'm dreading
Honestly, nothing. I love this time of year!
What I'm working on
Work wise I'm working on keyboarding skills for November and we're learning about petitions in grades 4 and 5. I'm also preparing for our school spelling bee and coaching kids with Battle of the Books.
At home, I'm working on designing and mailing our holiday cards since I want to get them out early this year with our address change.
I'm also working on finalizing Christmas lists for everyone so we can start getting that ordered and off the list.
What I'm excited about
Decorating our house for Christmas. Our new stockings we finally got. All of the festivities that are beginning.
What I'm watching
Honestly, not much. I catch episodes of some HGTV shows I enjoy and watch baseball and football when they're one, but I haven't had time to watch much. I'm excited to dive into Christmas movies soon though!
What I'm reading
We spent October doing novel studies in grades 2-5. In grade two we read The Trouble with Chickens by Cronin and Cornell. In grade three we read Maya and the Robot by Eve Ewing. In grade four we read The Wild Robot by Peter Brown. In grade five we read A Rover's Story by Jasmine Warga.
I also found time to read Funny Story by Emily Henry, which I loved. She is a must read author for me.
Earlier this month a friend and I went to an author talk to celebrate the launch of Kendra Adachi's most recent book, The Plan. I'm looking forward to reading that in the next month or so.
What I'm listening to
I love listening to Mo News to start my day. I also have been enjoying American Elections: Wicked Game - a history podcast that covers the presidential elections beginning with the election of George Washington. American History Tellers has had a fun series about Jamestown. I've also been enjoying Let's Be Honest and Pantsuit Politics.
What I'm doing this weekend
We're going to take down our fall decor and begin to put up Christmas. It'll be nice to have a low-key relaxing weekend at home.
What I'm looking forward to next month
The election being over so I can watch sports again without seeing only political commercials. I'm so tired of all the negativity and attack ads.
I'm also looking forward to our first Thanksgiving in our home and a slower month in the lead up to December.
