Wednesday Hodgepodge
2. Your favorite fall fabric-denim, flannel, tweed, corduroy, tartan, polar fleece, leather? Do you own something made with your favorite fall fabric?
I love the look of leather, but don't own anything other than handbags and shoes. I wear alot of flannel, tartan, and more denim in the autumn. I love when my husband switches his linen flat cap for his tweed flat cap come cooler weather!
3. According to Everyday Health here are ten healthy fall foods - apples (flavonoids may improve brain health), pears (for heart friendly fiber), cranberries (helps your body fight oxidative stress) winter squash (for eye health), pumpkin (another great source of Vitamin A), leeks (an anti-inflammatory food), brussel sprouts (full of fiber and anti-oxidants), sweet potatoes (loaded with Vit A and C), parsnips (keep your bones healthy with Vit K), and broccoli (may help prevent cancer).
How many on the list do you eat on a regular basis? Which one is your favorite? Which one gets a big no thanks from you?
Honestly, we try very hard to eat seasonally, and autumn veggies are some of my favorites! I love the flavor profiles this time of year.
4. Tell us about the last time (or a recent time) you experienced a wave of nostalgia?
They hit me often! Most recently it was for my son's first autumn season brought on by old pictures popping up in some of his sweet baby clothes!
5. Sept. 22nd was National Daughter's Day. Like mother, like daughter...does this idiom ring true for you? You may answer in terms of your own role as a daughter or, if you have daughters, then your role as a mother of daughters.
As I grow older, the more I realize how similar my mom and I are in our mannerisms, processes and quirks. I love my mama dearly though, so most of them I embrace fully!
6. Insert your own random thought here.
We're preparing for the possibility of a remote learning day on Friday due to Hurricane Helene and it's projected rainfall in our area. I have PLENTY of work I could do that day, so I honestly wouldn't hate it. Though my October is set to be WILD, with my missing most Fridays at school for the month, so I'd hate to miss my Friday students this week too... It's a conundrum that is fully out of my hands.
ooh you mentioned the hurricane. You must be in Florida. I've only ever flown over FLorida. I have no desire at all to visit or live there although it would be fun to visit Cape Canaveral with my hubby.
ReplyDeleteI love autumn and all the decor, clothing ,etc.
I hope you stay safe from the storms!
I love the flavors of fall too, the foods and the seasonings that go with them. Stay safe this weekend. This storm seems like it will be a doozy. We're supposed to have a lot of wind and rain in our area too, although nothing like Florida is expecting. Take care.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed reading your answers! Stay safe during Helene!
